Love Live the Corn Cobbler!

From Ground to Glass - Local Agriculture in Cocktail Form

At Toledo Spirits, every spirit tells a story. At Bellwether, every cocktail continues that story. With our new Corn Cobbler, that story is rooted in the soil of Northwest Ohio. This drink is a reflection of our commitment to local farmers and the belief that what grows around us should also be celebrated in our glasses.

What’s in the Corn Cobbler

The Corn Cobbler combines Maumee Moonshine with fresh lemon, syrup made from local corn, house-made orgeat, and saline. It’s bright, balanced, and nutty — a cocktail reminiscent of a margarita but uniquely Midwestern.

The spirit behind it, Maumee Moonshine, is itself a love letter to local agriculture. Distilled from corn, sugar, and local apples, it represents the diversity and abundance of crops grown right here in our community. By pairing moonshine with corn sourced locally, the Corn Cobbler becomes both a flavorful cocktail and a celebration of the harvest.

Why Local Matters

Supporting local farms has real impact.

  • Freshness & Flavor: Ingredients harvested nearby spend less time in transit, which means produce is fresher, brighter, and more flavorful when it reaches your glass.

  • Stronger Communities: Dollars spent locally stay local. Supporting small and urban farms strengthens the regional economy and creates more resilient neighborhoods.

  • Sustainability: Local and urban farms reduce the environmental cost of transportation and often prioritize regenerative, sustainable growing practices.

  • Connection: Knowing where your food and drink comes from builds a deeper connection between farmer, bartender, and guest.

Raise a Glass, Support a Farmer

The Corn Cobbler is our way of showing how cocktails can become a bridge between local agriculture and everyday enjoyment. But supporting small farms shouldn’t end at the bar.

We encourage you to:

  • Visit a farmers’ market and buy directly from growers.

  • Join a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program to get a weekly share of the harvest.

  • Explore the work of urban and small farms right here in Toledo, like Cultivate Toledo in Vistula and Sophia Quintero’s farm on Broadway, Shared Legacy Farms, and Urban Wholistics in Junction - all of which are building a stronger food system for the city.

Taste the Season

The Corn Cobbler is available now on our Bellwether Farmstand menu. When you order one, you are investing in local farmers, supporting sustainable food systems, and celebrating the flavors of our region.

Explore local produce. Enjoy the harvest. Support your farmers.
